Cheryl Ham set a new high in sales volume for the Roanoke Valley last year when she sold more than $8 million in residential real estate.
A real estate agent for more than 19 years, Ham has been associated with Boone & Co. for the past 15 years. Her office is at the company's Virginia 419 location.
Boone said no one in the history of Roanoke Valley residential sales has ever before achieved this volume.
To accomplish such a sales level, Ham closed 117 transactions in 1995, an average of 2.5 moderately priced home sales per week.
She was the first agent in the valley to sell more than $5 million worth of housing in a single year, reaching that goal in 1992. In 1994, she surpassed that record by selling $6 million worth of residential housing, but was beaten for top honors by Dianne Hernandez, also a Boone Realtor, who sold $6.2 million.
The figures are based on the awards guidelines of the Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors. On a national level, Ham's achievement is credited at more than $16 million in sales. Boone said the local association does not comply with the nationally recognized accounting methods used by other metropolitan associations.
Ham is to be given the highest award by the Roanoke Valley association for record-breaking residential sales. She said her goal is to sell $10 million by local standards in 1996.
