The Montgomery County license tax on dogs is due today. The fee for male and female dogs is $5; for neutered or spayed dogs, $3. For kennels of no more than 20 dogs, the license fee is $25 and for kennels housing 21-50 dogs the fee is $35. In order for a tag to be issued, evidence of rabies vaccination within the last 30 months is required. Animal control officers will check for 1996 dog licenses beginning Thursday. All dog owners who have not yet purchased tags can do so at the county treasurer's office or the Blacksburg Municipal Building.
