Air Force Airman Michael Conner recently graduated from the electronic computer and switching systems course at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Miss.
Conner is a 1991 graduate of Shawsville High School. He is the son of Kenneth and Martha Conner of Elliston.
Marine Pvt. Matthew Snow has completed the Basic Engineer Equipment Operator Course at the Marine Corps Engineer School at Camp Lejeune, N.C. Snow graduated from Blacksburg High School in 1994 and joined the Marines in February 1995. He is the son of Charles and Suzanne Snow of Blacksburg.
Army Spc. Robert Ratcliffe Jr. recently completed the U.S. Army Primary Leadership Development Course at Camp Jackson, South Korea. Ratcliffe is an armament and electrical systems technician. He is the son of Robert and Patricia Ratcliffe of Pulaski.
Army Pvt. Erricka Simmons has completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo. A 1992 graduate of Shawsville High School, she is the daughter of Joyce Simmons of Elliston.
Army National Guard Pvt. Joseph Meyer IV has completed the light-wheeled vehicle mechanic course at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Meyer is a 1993 graduate of Auburn High School in Riner. He is the son of Patricia Akers of Christiansburg.
Army Pvt. William Snizek recently completed basic training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He is the son of William and Molly Snizek of Blacksburg.
Army Pvt. Jack Horton recently completed a combat engineer course at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo. Horton is a 1995 graduate of Floyd County High School. He is the son of Jack and Betty Horton of Floyd.
Three area men recently joined the Army under the Delayed Enlistment Program.
Joshua Jessee joined at the Army recruiting station in Princeton, W.Va. Jessee will report to Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo., in February to begin basic training. A 1995 graduate of Pulaski County High School, he is the son of Carmella Jessee of Dublin.
Jason Gravley of Dublin and Russell Newby of Pearisburg joined at the Army recruiting station in Christiansburg.
Gravley will report to basic training later this month at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. A 1994 graduate of Pulaski County High School, he is the son of Sandra Gravley of Dublin.
Newby, a 1993 graduate of Giles County High School, will report for basic training at Fort McClellan, Ala., in May. He is the son of Roy and Eleanor Newby of Pearisburg.
