COLEMAN, Dora Pearl, 91, o f Lewisburg, W.Va., died Wednesday, January 31, 1996 in the Greenbrier Manor Nursing Home in Fairlea, following a long illness. She was born in Franklin County April 5, 1904, daughter of the late Flint and Alzia Frith Carter. She was a member of the Gray Stone Baptist Church, Fairlea, and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack L. Coleman in 1969. Survivors include two sons, Kennie W., and his wife, Tommie Coleman of Collinsville, Clifford R. and his wife, Linda, of Lakeland, Fla.; and one daughter, Shirley C. and her husband, Wilbur Porterfield, of Inverness, Fla.; one brother, Millard Carter of Ferrum; two sisters, Viola Griffin of Bassett, and Vivian Harbour of Ridgeway; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 3, in Memorial Chapel of McCraw Funeral Home, with the Rev. Youel Altizer officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewisburg. GUY, Mary Deyerle, 102, of Salem, died Wednesday, January 31, 1996. She was the widow of Samuel Richard Guy. Mrs. Guy was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Salem, and secretary of the Altar Guild for several years. She was a teacher in Roanoke County Schools for two years. Mrs. Guy was a clerk, then deputy in the office of the Roanoke County Commissioner of the Revenue for 35 years, and was a Notary Public for Roanoke County for 54 years. She was a member of Salem Historical Society, and was active in politics. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Richard D. and Uldene W. Guy of Lakeland, Fla., and two sisters, Mrs. Georgie D. Brown and Mrs. Hilda D. Miller of Salem. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home Chapel, Salem, with the Rev. Thomas Joyce officiating. Interment will follow in East Hill Cemetery. Born in Franklin County, Va. on December 8, 1929, he was a son of the late Alonza Andrew Martin and Ida Prillaman Martin. He was a retired founder of Long Mile Recapping, Inc. Mr. Martin was a member of McCabe Memorial Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy H. PHIPPS, Ossie Faye Gentry, 96, of Dayton, Ohio, died Monday, January 29,1996. She was born May 15, 1899 at Mouth Of Wilson, Va. and lived in Virginia until 1926. She moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she lived until 1978 and then moved to Dayton, Ohio. Mrs. Phipps is preceded in death by her husband of sixty four years, Lloyd W. Phipps in 1986, their baby daughter, Jeralene, Jewel in 1926, five sisters and two brothers, Verna Phipps, Viola Phipps, Ina Osborne, Ohnah Cox, Sallie Mackey, Payne Gentry, Paul Gentry, her parents, Professor A.M. Gentry and Sallie Fine Cox Gentry. Ossie Faye was a retired teacher having taught in Virginia and Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended Radford University. She was active in the community, church and fraternal organizations throughout her lifetime and was an active member of Westwood United Methodist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio, many committees and commissions, Order of Eastern Star, Westwood Chapter #290, Westwood Civic Club, Westwood Women's Club and Daughters of America. She is survived by a daughter, son-in-law and grandson, Frances Lee, Donald and Peter Christian Nordstrom, all of Dayton, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at Galax First United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 3, 1996. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. followed by the service at 3 p.m. then burial in Felts Memorial Cemetery, Galax with the Rev. Ken Perkins officiating.
