JOSEPH H. VIPPERMAN has been elected executive vice president of energy delivery at American Electric Power Co., based in Columbus, Ohio. Prior to AEP's restructuring, Vipperman was president and chief operating officer of Appalachian Power Co. in Roanoke. He has been an AEP employee for 33 years.
In the company's newly-created Central Virginia Region, four district managers have been named who will be responsible for customer service and operations. They are LARRY E. JACKSON, Lynchburg district; TERRY L. McMAHAN, Roanoke district; JOHN A. COFFEY III, Rocky Mount district; and MICHAEL B. JONES, Fieldale district. Jackson, McMahan and Coffey have all worked in Roanoke during their careers with AEP.
COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES
REGINALD SHAREEF of Roanoke has been named Radford University's affirmative action officer. Shareef will be conflict mediator on employment-related issues and will monitor minority recruitment at the university. He is an associate professor of political science and public administration
MANUFACTURING
TERRY FISHER has joined North American Housing Corp. in Boones Mill as a regional sales manager. VAN BARNES has joined the sales team specializing in sales to South Carolina builders. North American Housing produces factory-built custom houses for residential builders.
MEDICINE
DR. PAUL F. WHITE, an allergist and immunologist, has been elected president of the Roanoke Valley Academy of Medicine. In addition to his Roanoke practice, White is a clinical associate professor of medicine at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Other newly elected officers of the academy are DRS. LEE T. HELMS, president-elect; MARK O. SMITH, vice president; and ANDREW G. ROTH, secretary-treasurer. Drs. JOHN M. BUTLER, CLEMENT B. BINNINGS JR. and JAMES G. GOODING were elected to the board of directors.
DR. C. ALAN HENRY of Roanoke has been appointed to the board of directors of The American Society of Breast Surgeons, a professional association of surgeons who devote a substantial portion of their practice to breast diseases and breast surgery.
NONPROFITS
KYLE WIEBESIEK, formerly of the Carter Athletic Center at North Cross School, has been named aquatics director at the Central YMCA. He succeeds Michael Van Haelewyn, who has been appointed branch director of the Salem Family YMCA.
SHELBY PAISLEY HAMLETT has been elected chairman of the board of directors for The Easter Seal Society of Virginia Inc., based in Roanoke. Also elected to the board for three-year terms were DENNIS A BARBOUR and LEE BLAIR, both of Roanoke; and JOHN W. MOTICHA JR. of Salem. The Easter Seal Society provides services for more than 18,000 children and adults with disabilities throughout Virginia.

ANN CHANDLER of Salem has joined Boone & Co. Realtors in Roanoke. She has been in the real estate business for three years, most recently at Waldrop Realty. Chandler is a member of the Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors and was named "Rookie of the Year" by the group in 1994 . She also belongs to the Roanoke Regional Home Builders Association.
TRANSPORTATION
H. WRAY BRAWLEY has been named manager of sales and service for Old Dominion Freight Line Inc.'s Roanoke service center. Brawley has more than eight years of experience in the transportation industry.
