WYMS' 20 NOT ENOUGH VS. RADFORD

Radford University used a balanced attack to overcome a 20-point effort by former hometown star Michelle Wyms as the Highlanders defeated Liberty 73-54 on Saturday night in a Big South Conference game in Lynchburg.

Kim Hairston (Bassett High School) led the way for Radford (11-8 overall, 7-1 conference) with 18 points. Rebecca McNeil (Christiansburg), Kim Cruise (Pulaski County) and Lisa Howard added 10 each.

The Highlanders were outrebounded 50-44 and committed 22 turnovers, but they held the Flames (3-15, 0-8) to 30 percent shooting and forced 35 miscues.

Wyms, from Radford High School, was 3-of-10 from the field, but hit all 14 of her free throws and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.

Texas Tech committed 30 turnovers to nine by the national team.
