Federal officials declared Harrisonburg eligible for federal disaster relief Friday, bringing to 16 the number of localities qualified for the aid.
Residents can apply for emergency housing assistance, low interest loans to replace flood-damaged property and other forms of relief. President Clinton declared portions of the state a disaster area Jan. 27.
Counties already qualified for the aid are Alleghany, Augusta, Bath, Botetourt, Clarke, Frederick, Loudoun, Page, Rockbridge, Rockingham, Shenandoah and Warren. Cities already qualified are Buena Vista, Covington and Waynesboro.
