ADAMS, Ora Bell Short, 85, of Altavista, died Friday, February 2, 1996 in Lynchburg General Hospital. Born April 27, 1910 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late James ``Jim"" Short and Martha Cox Short. She was married to the late Delmas S. Adams. Mrs. Adams was predeceased by two sons and one daughter, Percy S. Adams, Wayne Adams and Carol Meador. She was a member of Weatherford Primitive Baptist Church for 43 years. She is survived by two daughters Martha Dalton and Hilda Worley both of Hurt; two sisters, Lizzie Norton of Burkeville and Jeannie Murphy of Gretna; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at the Weatherford Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Raymond Goad, Elder Marvin Brumfield and Elder Larry Hollandsworth. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and at other times be at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Hilda and Dr. James Worley, Tyree Street, Rt. 3, Hurt. Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna is in charge of the arrangements.

BARBOUR, Richard Lee Sr., 52, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 1996. He was employed at Concrete Ready Mix for 24 years. Those left to rejoice in his memory are his devoted wife, Shirley Sullivan Barbour, Roanoke; daughter, Sonnya Preston, Petersburg; sons, Richard (Danetta) Barbour Jr., Mechanicsville, Sheridan Preston, Roanoke; stepdaughter, Sandy Basham; stepfather, Rev. Roy McGhee; stepson, Reginald Price, U.S. Navy, Norfolk; four grandchildren, Richard Barbour III, Quentin Barbour, Jade and Jasmine Basham; one brother-in-law, Robert Sullivan; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Sullivan, Washington D.C.; sister, Donna Marie Brooks, Roanoke; three aunts, Beulah Hilton, Suitland, Md., Sally Washington, Washington D.C., Helen Cook, Roanoke; uncles, Harry Taylor, Bassett, Joe Barbour, Washington D.C., Hubbard Taylor, Martinsville; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 1996, Hamlar-Curtis Chapel with the Dr. J. Eugene Young officiating. Burial will be in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. BIRMINGHAM, Edison Lee, 64, of Buena Vista, died Saturday, February 3, 1996, in Stonewall Jackson Hospital. He was born November 24, 1931, in Glasgow, son of the late Raymond Birmingham and Ethel Alexander Birmingham. He was retired from Mobile Chemical Oil Company. He was a member of the local Democratic Party. He is survived by two sisters, Ellen Wi lliams of Buena Vista and Leslie Southers of Clifton Forge, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Rebekah Maul officiating. Interment will be at the Green Hill Mausoleum. BROCK, Ruth Calaway Jones, 93, of Salem, passed away as quietly as the fallen snow on Friday, February 2, 1996. She was the daughter of the late Martha Anderson Guthrie and Mason Wiley Jones of ``Hedge Place,`` Salem. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Owen Bertram Brock of Harrisonburg and Archibald Moffett Brock Sr. of Lacey Spring. She was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church, and was active in the Salem Diners Club. She was a lifetime member of the Turner Ashby Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She had retired from the Leggett Surburban Store. She is survived by two daughters from her first marriage, Martha Brock Zirkle of Roanoke and Susan Brock Miller of Bedford, and two sons from her second marriage, Archibald Moffett Brock Jr. of Suffolk and Stephen Franklin Brock of Salem. Also surviving are six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Jones Triplett of Bedford and Nancy Jones Hurrle of High Point, N.C.. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 8, at the John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Chapel in Salem. The family will receive friends following the service until 3 p.m. A private burial will be held on Friday in Arlington National Cemetery. BROUGHMAN, Sarah Lewis Campell, (``Mazie""), 88, of Richfield Retirement Center, Salem, formerly of Natural Bridge and Buchanan, passed away Thursday, February 1, 1996. Born July 1, 1907 and was the daughter of the late Howard Ashby and Grace Barger Lewis. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William H. Campbell (Bill) and Morris William Broughman (Billy). She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Betty Campbell Loving and Edward Loving, Roanoke; two granddaughters, Julie Seay, Roanoke and Debra Brugh, Penn Laird, Va.; two great-grandsons, Landon and Avery Brugh, Penn Laird, Va.; one brother, Charles Lewis, Glasgow; three sisters, Elsie Tomlinson, Waynesboro, Catherine Roberts, Cobbs Creek, and Ailene Wade, Merritt Island, Fla.; and a number of nephews and nieces. She was a member of the Mt. Olivet Methodist Church and the Botetourt Democratic Party. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or any charity of your choice. DREWRY, Arthur Robert, 95, of Troutville, died Friday, February 2, 1996. He was a member of Boone Masonic Lodge #247 A.F.&A.M. Mr. Drewry was predeceased by his wife, Annie H. Drewry; a daughter, Betty Allen, and a son, Harold Drewry. Survivors include five daughters, Evelyn Kirkman of Portsmouth, Geraldine Gibson, Juanita Dooley, Marcella Kurz and Judy Smith, all of Troutville; two sons, Henry Drewry of New Castle and Gary Drewry of Troutville; a brother, Thurman Drewry of Roanoke; a sister, Thelma Johnson of Shawsville; 24 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 5, 1996, at 2 p.m., at Rader Troutville Chapel, with Dr. E. Ray Frazier officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. DUNVILLE, Dorman H., 70, of Roanoke, died at his home on Saturday, February 3, 1996, of lung cancer. He was loved and will be missed by many. Survivors include his wife, Virginia H. Dunville, and children, Jennifer F alls, Glenn and Deborah Dunville, Lila Amburgey and Holly Moore. Also surviving are two sisters, Nahja Haagensen of Franklin, Mass., and Julia Sallin of Pensacola, Fla.; a brother, Joseph Dunville of Atlanta, Ga.; six granddaughters, and three grandsons. Dorman was a veteran of World War II, serving four years in the U. S. Navy. He was an active member of Westhampton Christian Church for the past 34 years. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, February 5. A memorial service will be held at Westhampton Christian Church at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 6. DYSON, David Richard, 64, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, February 2, 1996, at the V. A. Medical Center in Salem. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and a member of the Faith and Hope Church of God in Christ in Roanoke. He is survived by his devoted cousin, Judy Ross and her husband Louis, with whom he resided. Also surviving are other relatives, Charles W. Ball Jr. of New Jersey, Michelle B. Hamm of Roanoke, Calvin J. Ball of New Jersey and Tasha R. Pannell of Roanoke. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home, with Elder David A. GRAVELY, Ethel, (``Tina""), 77, of Martinsville, died Friday, February 2, 1996 in Memorial Hospital, Martinsville. She was the wife of the late Harry C. Gravely II and was born November 15, 1918 in Dublin, Va. She was the daughter of the late William Jasper Jordan and Mattie Payne Copenhaver Jordan. She was a graduate of William and Mary University, Class of '39. Mrs. Gravely was a member of First United Methodist Church and a member of the Wesley Guild there. She was active in the American Red Cross and named an honorary lifetime member. An avid bridge player, she held membership in the Charity League, the Garden Study Club, the Investment Club, and the Martinsville Book Club. She was predeceased by a son, Harry Clay Gravely III. Surviving include two daughters, Sarah Payne Tyler of Richmond, Jane Kelly Gravely of Richmond; son, William Jordan Gravely of Martinsville; six grandchildren, Carter Randolph Tyler, Campbell Gravely Tyler, H. Clay Gravely IV, Glen Coryell Gravely, Jane Jordan Gravely. Funeral serivces will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, from First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tommy Herndon officiating.
