Bennington anniversary

The children of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bennington request the pleasure of your company at a reception in honor of the 50th anniverary of marriage of their parents on Saturday, February 17, 1996, at 12:00 noon at The Old Fishbun Mansion, Roanoke, Va.

Borsum anniversary

Harry and Doris Borsum of Lynchburg, formerly of Roanoke, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 24, 1995 at Hotel Roanoke. The celebration was hosted by their daughters. The Borsums were married in Roanoke, Virginia, on December 24, 1945. Mrs. Borsum, the former Doris Oreen Townsend, is a graudate of Jefferson High School. They have two daughters, Mrs. Kent (Patricia) Agnew of Blue Ridge, Va. and Mrs. James (Donna) R. Garwood of Greenwood, Va.; and three grandchildren. They are members of Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Va.

Cadd anniversary

James R. and Betty B. Cadd celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 4, 1996. A celebration will be hosted by their children, James Robert Cadd, Joyce Melki of Roanoke and Carolyn Ledford of Georgia. They have eight grand and three great-grandchildren. They have lived in Roanoke for 50 years.

Hill anniversary

Mr. & Mrs. Hillard J. Hill celebrated their 50th anniversary on Jan. 19, 1996. A reception is planned for a later date. The couple was married Jan. 19, 1946 in Floyd, Va. They have lived in the Roanoke area all their married life except for 15 years (1970-1985) in Radford, Va. when Mr. Hill was transferred. She is the former Gladys Martin. They have 2 children, daughter & son-in-law, Peggy & Richard Robinson of Hardy and son & daughter-in-law, Jimmy & Judy Hill of Roanoke, five grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Mr. Hill is retired from Beatrice Foods. Mrs. Hill is retired from Halmode Apparel. They are members of Gospel Light Baptist Church.

Humphreys anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. William C. Humphreys, Sr., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 1, 1996. The celebration was held at the Coach & Four and was hosted by Bill Humphreys, son; Anna Marie Richardson, daughter. The couple was married February 1, 1946, in Roanoke, Va. She is the former B. Annette Bass. Their children are Bill Humphreys, Kingsport, Tenn., and Anna Marie Richardson, Christiansburg. They have three grandchildren. He was employed by Norfolk & Western for 41 years. She was employed by Old Dominion Candies, Salem, Va. Out of town gues ts included friends and family.

Jamison anniversary

The Rev. and Mrs. Lee Jamison celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary January 28th at Central United Methodist Church. The celebration was hosted by their children, David and Kathy Jamison, Doug and Deedee Jamison, and the Evelyn Jamison Circle, also by their grandchildren, Anne, Michael and Christian. Mrs. Jamison is the former Evelyn Webb of Callaway. They were married 50 years ago in Roanoke by Rev. George Amos.

Johnston 70th anniversary

Clarke D. and Ruby S. Johnston celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary February 1, 1996 at their home with their children. They were married in Greene Memorial Methodist Church by the Rev. John W. Smith, February 1, 1926. She is the former Ruby Sisson. They have three daughters, Mrs. Nancy Thomson, Alice Callison and Mrs. Alleene Dalzell, all of Roanoke; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons. They are members of Greene Memorial Methodist Church.

Martin anniversary

Jesse Booker Martin and Grace Love Martin will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary today, February 4, 1996. They have been lifelong residents of Roanoke, Virginia. Their children are Barry Martin of Roanoke, Richard Martin of Roanoke, and Tony Martin of Abilene, Texas. They have nine grandchildren.

Vass anniversary

Chester and Sylvia Vass celebrated their 50th anniversary on January 24, 1996. They were married January 24, 1946 in Pe arisburg, Va. Chester was serving in the U.S. Army and en-route to France after serving in WW II. They have lived in their current home on Wolf Creek, Narrows, Va., since 1953. She's the former Sylvia Mayes of Narrows, Va. They have four children, Roger and Barbara Vass of Pembroke; Gayle and Chris Furrow of Troutville; Arnold and Joy Vass of Newport News; and Gary and May Vass of Summerville, S.C. Chester retired from Radford Arsenal Ammunition Plant in Radford. Sylvia retired from Celanese Fibers in Pearisburg. They will be honored by their children and families with an open reception Memorial Day weekend at their home. An open invitation will follow on date and time
