BRICKEY, Richard Odell, 63, of Salem, died Sunday, February 4, 1996 in Lewis-Gale Hospital. He was a long-time Salem resident. He retired from Roanoke County Schools Maintenance Department a s a plumber in 1994. He attended Salem Church of God and was preceded in death by his mother, Annie G. Brickey. CARTER, Helen H., of Blacksburg, died Sunday morning, February 4, 1996 in the Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was a resident of Showalter Center, Blacksburg, and a former resident of Roanoke. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn J. Carter, and was a member of Windsor Hills United Methodist Church in Roanoke. She was a retired registered nurse with the Veterans Administration. Surviving are one son, John W. Carter, Richmond; one sister, Ruth H. Clark, Saltville; a special niece, Ann H. Carter, Christiansburg. GRAVELY, Ethel (``Tina""), 77, of 1200 Sam Trail, Martinsville, died Friday, February 2, 1996, at Memorial Hospital, Martinsville. She was born in Dublin, November 15, 1918. The daughter of the late William Casper Jordan and Mattie Payne Copenhaver Jordan. She as a graduate of William and Mary University, Class of 1939. Mrs. Gravely was a member of First United Methodist Church and a member of the Wesley Guild there. She was active in the American Red Cross and named an honorary lifetime member. An avid bridge player, she held membership in the Charity League, the Garden Study Club, the Investment Club, and the Martinsville Book Club. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Clay Gravely, II, and a son, Harry Clay Gravely III. She is survived by two daughters, Sarah Payne Tyler, and Jane Kelly Gravely, both of Richmond; a son, William Jordan Gravely, Martinsville; six grandchildren, Carter Randolph Tyler, Campbell Gravely Tyler, H. Clay Gravely IV, Glen Coryell Gravely, Jane Jordan Gravely, Sarah Starling Gravely. Funeral services will be held from First United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Wednesday with The Rev. HASKINS, Lawrence Elwood Sr., 73, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, February 1, 1996. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Survivors include one brother, Edward Haskins, Springwood; daughters, Mornique Smith, Virginia, Vanessa and Fayleen Haskins, all of Roanoke; sons, David, Colorado Spring, Colo., and Henry Haskins, Roanoke; nieces, Constance Clerk, Hillside, N.M. and Barbara Crawford, Covington. Mr. Haskins was formerly married to Mrs. Pauline Haskins of Roanoke. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. KELLER, Virginia Nye, 75 of Haw River, N.C., passed away suddenl y Sunday, February 4, 1996 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a three day illness. She was born in Raford, Va., a daughter of the late Walter L. and Ruth Pace Nye. She was a retired secretary from Western-Electric, Burlington Plant and a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church, Burlington, N.C. She was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Nye Glenn. She is survived by her husband, Henry F. Keller, of the home. Funeral services 2 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 1996, at Macedonia Lutheran Church, with the Rev. John C. Earp, Pastor, officiating. Graveside services 2 p.m. Friday at Chimney Rock Baptist Church Cemetery, Chimney Rock, N.C. The body will remain at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham until taken to the church, 30 minutes before the service. LAFON, Fred Crockett, 88, of 308 W. College Street, Narrows, died Sunday evening, February 4, 1996 in the Giles Memorial Hospital at Pearisburg, Va. A lifelong resident of Gi les County, he was born on November 29, 1907 and was the son of the late Clarence Perry and Mary Elizabeth Garten Lafon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Price Lafon. He was a retired employee of the Hoechst/Celanese Fibers Company Plant at Narrows, Va. He is survived by a son, Jimmy Lafon of Radford; a daughter, Bonnie L. Cooper, Narrows; a brother, Preston Lafon, Pearisburg; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Whittaker and Mrs. Eunice Lafon, both of Pearisburg; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows, with the Rev. E. H. Shaver officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg. MOORE, David Henry, 74, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, February 3, 1996. He graduated from Jefferson Senior High School in 1939 and attended The Ruth Cornet School of Business. He was a member of Melrose Avenue United Methodist Church and Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church. He served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II and later worked in the recruiting office. His career was with Norfolk and Western Railway where he worked in many clerical and management positions, and with the Norfolk Southern Corporation in the Material Management Department from which he retired as Assistant Manager of Material. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Reba Campbell Moore, to whom he was married for 471/2 years; and by his parents, Roy P. Sr. and Mamie Moore. He is survived by his daughter, Karen Dianne Moore, Roanoke; brother and sister-in-law, Roy P. Jr. and June Moore, Dallas, Texas; aunt, Marion Prillaman, Roanoke; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Melvin and Jane Campbell, Salem; sister-in-law, Virgie Campbell, Salem; and many cousins and other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday at Oakey's North Chapel by the Rev. William Anthony Layman. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
