Defendant: Pal wore Jordan's pants in trial
LUMBERTON, N.C. - A man charged with killing Michael Jordan's father wore the dead man's pants to court last week, the state's key witness testified Tuesday.
Larry Martin Demery said that his co-defendant, Daniel Andre Green, wore a pair of suit pants stolen from Jordan's car to their trial one day last week.
Green, 21, and Demery, 20, were charged with killing Jordan, who was shot to death July 23, 1993, as he napped in his car along a North Carolina road.
Demery pleaded guilty to murder last spring and has been testifying against Green. Both face possible death sentences.

162 police officers killed on job in 1995
WASHINGTON - One-hundred-sixty-two law enforcement officers were killed in the line of duty last year, including 12 who died in the bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City, according to a report released Tuesday.
That was an increase for the second straight year, but was far below the highest number,190, in 1989.
The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund and Concerns of Police Survivors said the figures in their joint report were preliminary. The deaths resulted almost equally from felonious assault and accidental causes.
