ROCKY GAP ROLLS PAST FORT CHISWELL 57-53

Nathan Blessing scored eight of his game-high 17 points in the fourth quarter and 13 in the second half as Rocky Gap moved into sole possession of second place in the Mountain Empire District with a 57-53 victory over Fort Chiswell on Tuesday night in Rocky Gap.

The Eagles (7-8 overall, 5-1 district) trailed by seven at halftime, but took the lead with a 8-0 run to start the second half. Will Dodson scored six of his 12 in the third quarter, and Brian Payne also finished with 12 for Rocky Gap.

Fort Chiswell was led by T.J. King and Brad Hughes, with 12 points each.

Highland 66, James River 62: Bryan Werner and Jacob Hull each had 15 to lead four scorers in double figures as the Rams knocked off the Knights for the second time this season in a Pioneer District game in Monterey.

Timmy Harold had 11 points and Ryan Harris added 14, including two 3-pointers as Highland (7-9, 3-3) drilled seven 3-pointers for the game. James River was led by Shahan Burrell, who scored 17 points.

George Wythe 79, Northwood 33: Junior forward Brian Barnes was 8-for-8 from the field 18 points as the Maroons (11-3, 9-2) rolled past the Panthers in a Hogoheegee District game in Wytheville.

Covington 51, Parry McCluer 42: Dusty Roman scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Cougars (9-6, 6-1) beat the Fighting Blues (11-3, 4-3) in a Pioneer District game in Covington.
