Fiction reading
BLACKSBURG - Fiction writer Edward Falco, winner of the Richard Sullivan Prize for Short Fiction, will read from his book "Acid" on Thursday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m. at Volume Two Bookstore on University Avenue and on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m. at Mill Mountain Coffee House in Roanoke.
Readings at Radford
RADFORD - The Radford University English Department is sponsoring readings from four graduate students on Thursday, Feb. 15, at 7:30 p.m. in Heth Lounge B.
Bess Davis, Rae Greiner, Lisa Hurst and Kara Roach will read from their original creative writing. The writings range from regional stories to city-oriented stories with an upbeat style.
The readings are free to the public.
Library to close
The Blacksburg Area Branch Library will be closed for two weeks, beginning the week of February 19. That's when the staff plans to move to the newly renovated area of the library.
All materials checked out through February 18 will have a loan period of seven weeks.
WinterFest at Tech
BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech Union will sponsor the 5th annual WinterFest on Saturday, Feb. 24, from noon to 6 p.m., at Virginia Tech Squires Student Center. WinterFest activities will include laser tag, virtual reality, human bowling, human foosball, sumo wrestling and puppet shows.
