Ricky Wright scored 13 points to lead Rockbridge County to a 64-47 Blue Ridge District boys' basketball victory over Lord Botetourt on Wednesday.
The Wildcats (3-11 overall, 2-4 district) outscored the Cavaliers (4-9, 1-4) 20-8 in the third quarter to seal the victory.
Sean Osbourne led Lord Botetourt with 12 points.
Covington 78, Highland 67: The Cougars started slow but roared back to defeat the Rams in a Pioneer District matchup in Monterey.
Cory Whitaker led all scorers with 27 points, and Robert Roman added 20 for Covington. Jacob Hull led Highland County with 17 points.
Floyd County 78, Carroll County 61: Travis Cantrell scored 15 of his game-high 22 points in the second half, including nine in a big Floyd County third quarter as the Buffaloes knocked off Carroll County in a non-district game in Floyd.
Cantrell also had seven assists. Jason Dalton had 13 points, Jesse Slusher 12, and Adam Harris added 11 for the Buffaloes (13-2).
Carroll County was led by Jeremy Ogle, who scored 16 points, and Jody Edwards, who added 15.
Grayson County 64, Narrows 50: Brian McDonnell scored 24 points and Wes Self added 23 as the Blue Devils topped the Green Wave in a Mountain Empire District game at Independence.
Grayson County (14-0 overall, 4-0 district), ranked second in The Associated Press' Group A poll, made 15 of 19 free-throw attempts for the game and 11 of 14 in the fourth quarter.
Bryan Pruett and Joe Shipbaugh each scored 15 for Narrows.
Salem 87, Alleghany 61: The Spartans used a big second quarter to defeat the Mountaineers in a Blue Ridge District game in Low Moor.
Kwam Lewis led Salem with 19 points. Jay Megginson and Kevin Cook tallied 13 each for Alleghany.
Giles 72, Radford 59: The Spartans defeated the Bobcats in the Three Rivers District game in Pearisburg.
Josh Stephens led four double-figure scorers for Giles with 15 points. Larnell Lewis led all scorers with 21 for Radford.
Staunton River 64, Rustburg 51: Hunter Hoggatt, battling illness, hit five of six free-throw attempts in the fourth quarter as Staunton River made 11-of-14 in the final period to pull away from Rustburg in a Seminole District game in Moneta.
Hoggatt finished with a game-high 23 points, and Kevin Martin added 11 for the Golden Eagles (5-8, 5-8).
Holy Cross 67, North Cross 57: The Gaels used a balanced scoring attack to defeat the Raiders in the Virginia Independent Conference game at the North Cross gym.
Holy Cross (7-13 overall, 6-6 conference) was led by Bart Wheeler's 16 points.
Brian Whitaker made five 3-pointers and scored 19 points for North Cross (0-14, 0-8).
