HASKINS, Lawrence Elwood Sr., 73, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, February 1, 1996. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Survivors include one brother, Edward Haskins, Springwood; daughters, Mornique Smith, Virginia, Vanessa and Fayleen Haskins, all of Roanoke; sons, David, Colorado Spring, Colo., and Henry Haskins, Roanoke; nieces, Constance Clerk, Hillside, N.J. and Barbara Crawford, Covington. Mr. Haskins was formerly married to Mrs. Pauline Haskins of Roanoke. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one son-in-law; two daughters-in-law; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel. The Rev. Rawleigh Quarles will officiate, with interment in the Jackson Baptist Church Cemetery, Springwood. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Hamlar-Curtis.

JONES, Fletcher E., 46, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, February 7, 1996. Arrangements by Oakey's North Chapel.

KING, Jerry Lee, 43, of Pulaski, died Tuesday, February 6, 1996. Funeral 11 a.m. Saturday, Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Chapel, Galax.

LOWE, Alene Dena, 80, of Fries, died Tuesday, February 6, 1996. Funeral 2 p.m. Thursday, Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Chapel, Galax.

MOORE, Edna Marie Smith, 66, of Lexington, died Wednesday, February 7, 1996 in Stonewall Jackson Hospital. She was born in Rockbridge County on November 6, 1929, a daughter of the late Porter Houston Smith and Margaret Susan (Moore) Smith. Mrs. Moore was a member of the Ebenezer ARP Church. She was a member of the VFW Auxillary Post #1499 and Women of the Moose, Chapter #1741. Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband, John Emery Moore. Survivors include two sons, John Oliver Moore and Randall Houston Moore of Lexington; four daughters, Donna Louise Smith, Penni Higgins and Candy Leighton all of Lexington and Connie G. Clark, Roanoke; four brothers, Carl Houston Smith and Charles Earl Smith, Lexington, Porter H. Smith, Richmond, and Howard D. Smith, Sandston; one sister, Ruby S. Goodbar, Lexington; twenty grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday February 9, 1996 at the Williams Funeral Service Chapel with Chaplain Robert K. Wilson and the Rev. Paul Burns officiating. Interment will follow in the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Service Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Ebenezer ARP Church, RFD 6, Lexington. Arrangements are being handled by the Williams Funeral Service, Lexington.

MORRIS, Gladys Lester, 88, of Martinsville, died Wednesday, February 7, 1996. Arrangements by McKee Funeral Services.

NORFORD, Arsby Durell, 49, of Salem, died Tuesday, February 6, 1996, in Lewis-Gale Hospital. He wa s born in Charlottesville, and was the owner and president of Dent Heating and Air Conditioning, a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and a graduate of Virginia Tech. Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer S. Norford, Denver, Colo.; two sons, A. D. Norford Jr. and Trevor Miller Norford, both of Salem; fiancee, Carol Anne Buman and her children, Christopher Alan Buman and Patrick Benjamin Buman, all of Salem; a brother, Raymond M. Norford, Charlottesville; sisters, Katherine N. Kennedy, Ridgefield, Conn., Barbara N. Gentry, Charlottesville; several nieces, nephews and close friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 10, at 11 a.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel, with the Rev. Billy White officiating. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday and Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.

ROGERS, Gaynor Burrell, of Detroit, Mich., and formerly of Fincastle, Va., passed away Thursday, February 1, 1996, in Mercy Hospital in Detroit. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Lelliar Burrell of Fincastle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Rogers. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Robert Duesette, Detroit, Mich.; one son, Charles Ard; one granddaughter, Dominique Ard, both of Detroit, Mich.; three sisters, Rebecca Johnson, Corrine Gentry, both of Detroit, Mich.; Lillian (Peachie) Brown, Gala, Va.; three brothers, Ralph Burrell, Bridgeport, Conn., Roy Burrell, Roanoke, George (Alex) Burrell, Fincastle; two brothers-in-law; six sisters-in-law; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday 1 p.m. at the Lapsleys Run Baptist Church, Fincastle. The Rev. U. N. Broady will officiate with the interment in the church cemetery. THOMPSON, Margaret McDaniel, 78, of Salem, died Wednesday, February 7, 1996, in a local hospital. A lifelong Salem resident, she was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Thompson. Survivors include her son, Bruce M. Thompson, and a daughter, Virginia Diane Thompson, both of Salem; grandsons, James and Paul Thompson; a sister, Mary Elizabeth McDaniel of Salem, and her special family, Frances and Edward Smith of Roanoke. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 9, at 2 p.m., at the John M. Oakey and So n Chapel in Salem. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

VEST, Edward Ashley, 32, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of Roanoke, Va. died Wednesday, January 31, 1996. He is survived by his mother and step father, Karen and Steve Claris, Roanoke; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cindy and Roger Cupp, Vinton, Mary Alice and Richard Zirkle, Roanoke; nieces, Brandy and Caroline Cupp, Vinton; grandmother, Alice Bragg, Vinton. A memorial service will be held Saurday, February 10, 1996 at 11 a.m. in the Bonsack United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Ashley officiating.

VIA, Norman Jeffrey, (``Jeff""), 37, of Hampton, formerly of Martinsville, died Tuesday, February 6, 1996. Funeral 11 a.m. Saturday, Fort Trial Baptist Church, Stanleytown. Arrangements by Norris Funeral Services.

WILLIAMS, Deward Mack, 78, formerly of 212 Moss Street, Martinsville, died Wednesday, February 7, 1996, at Memo rial Hospital of Martinsville-Henry County. He was born in Pulaski County on September 22, 1917, son of the late William H. Williams and Annie Howell Williams. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Gertrude Williams. Mr. Williams was a U. S. Army Air Corps veteran, serving during World War II. After he returned from the service, he was a coal miner in McCoy, and later moved to Martinsville. He retired from American Furniture Co. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Martinsville. He is survived by three brothers, William H. Williams Jr., Roanoke, Joseph Williams, Cleveland, Ohio, and Robert L. Williams, Matoka, W.Va. He was predeceased by a brother, James Williams. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at McKee Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Tommy Herndon officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the time of service.

WILLIAMS, Wilbert Woodrow, 79, of Saltville, died Wednesday, February 7, 1996 in Marion. Funeral 11 a.m. Friday, Newberry Funeral Home Chapel, Chilhowie.
