MARINE STAFF SGT. DOUGLAS D. MINNICK, son of Rita B. and William M. Grisso Jr. of Roanoke, is in the Adriatic Sea near Bosnia serving with Marine All Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 251 aboard the aircraft carrier USS America. He is a 1983 graduate of Cave Spring High School.
ARMY PVT. CHAD E. DICKERSON, son of Donna M. Richardson of Virginia Beach and Dennis W. Dickerson of Roanoke, recently completed basic training at Fort Leonard E. Wood in Waynesville, Mo. He is a 1995 graduate of Kellam High School in Virginia Beach.
AIRMAN LAWRENCE D. TODD, son of Karen C. Jackson and stepson of Arthur D. Jackson of Salem, has completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
MARINE PVT. GREGORY M. JENNINGS, son of Vernon M. Jennings and Susan B. Jennings of Roanoke, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S.C. He is a 1995 graduate of Northside High School.
ARMY PRIVATE JOSEPH A. CURET has completed a special course in criminal investigation at Fort McClellan, Anniston, Ala.
Curet is the son of Elizabeth J. Curet of Rochester, N.Y. and Jose A. Curet of Salem.
ARMY PFC. JEFFREY A. CARTER has completed basic training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Carter is the son of William J. and Kathy Carter of Roanoke.
NAVY SEAMAN JASON M. PAXTON, son of William T. and Rebecca B. Paxton of Salem, has returned from a four-month deployment aboard the aircraft carrier USS Independence. The carrier was stationed in the Persian Gulf and western Pacific Ocean.
Paxton, a 1993 graduate of Salem High School, joined the Navy in November 1993.
AIRMAN MICHAEL T. BROUGHMAN, son of John W. and Carolyn F. Broughman of Eagle Rock, completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
Broughman is a 1995 graduate of James River High School.
ARMY PVT. DANE E. CRULL, son of George W. Crull of Vinton, completed basic training at Fort Leonard E. Wood in Waynesville, Mo.
