James Stokes scored 18 points to lead William Fleming to a 49-33 victory over Franklin County on Saturday in a Roanoke Valley District boys' basketball game at Rocky Mount.
Brad Dunleavy added 11 points for the Colonels (12-5 overall, 5-0 district).
K.C. Hancock paced Franklin County (3-14, 1-4) with eight points.
Glenvar 68, Bath County 49: The Highlanders led by eight at the break and cruised to the 19-point win over the Chargers in a Pioneer District game in Hot Springs.
Glenvar (14-5 , 10-1) scored the game's first nine points and was challenged only once when Bath County (12-3, 5-3) cut the score to 35-33.
James Williams led Glenvar with 20 points, teammate Corey Willis scored 13 and Josh Williams added 14.
James River 86, Craig County 61: The Knights placed five players in double figures in their 25-point win over the Rockets in a Pioneer District game in New Castle.
Travis Blankenship led the Knights with 17 points and teammates Jason Peery and Chris Firebaugh added 16 and 15, respectively.
Jamie Fisher led the Rockets (2-9, 0-8) with 25 points.
Girls
William Fleming 60, Franklin County 40: The Colonels used a balanced attack to beat the Eagles in Rocky Mount.
William Fleming had four scorers in double figures. Shaunarey Walker led the way with 14 points, Carol Ellis had 12, Revonda Barber scored 11 and Renita Walker added 10 for the Colonels (11-4, 6-2).
Holy Cross 43, Roanoke Catholic 23: Elizabeth Melton and Marie Gamis each scored 11 points as the Gaels rolled past the Celtics for a Blue Ridge Conference victory in Lynchburg.
Holy Cross (13-5, 10-2) shot 75 percent from the field and outrebounded Roanoke Catholic 31-20.
Christy Hinman scored 20 points to lead the Celtics (8-8, 7-5).
North Cross 56, Carlisle 29: The Raiders jumped out to a big lead and coasted to victory over the Chiefs in a Blue Ridge Conference game in Martinsville.
North Cross (5-8, 5-4) held Carlisle to just 18 points through the first three quarters. The Raiders were led by Ann Ballenger's 14 points and Katherine Kelly's 11.
Mercer Christian Academy, W.Va. 68, Cave Spring 46: The Wilkerson twins, Sarah and Sharon, nearly outscored Cave Spring themselves as Mercer Christian Academy (W.Va.) downed the turnover-plagued Knights in a non-district game in Bluefield, W.Va.
Sharon Wilkerson scored a game-high 24 points and Sarah Wilkerson added 17 for Mercer (15-2), which trailed 9-0 before going on a 16-3 run to take control.
The Knights (9-6), who committed 37 turnovers, were led by Jaclyn Banks, who scored 21.
