SWVA Bancshares Inc. of Roanoke, holding company of Southwest Virginia Savings Bank, said Monday its income fell $52,000, or 45.61 percent, from $114,000 to $62,000 for the first three months of its fiscal year ended Dec. 31. For six months, earnings fell from $195,000, or 37 cents a share, to $128,000, or 25 cents.
The bank cited an increase in personnel costs from an employee stock benefit plan, fewer loan originations and higher costs of being a stock company. It reported assets of $66 million and said it had one nonperforming loan. It made no provision for loan losse.
