Residents who have concerns about Christiansburg's plan to turn the vacant Lowe's building into a recreation center say they will continue attending Town Council meetings to monitor developments.
The town is awaiting word from its insurance company on repairs to the roof of the North Franklin Street building. The roof collapsed in January under the weight of a record snow storm.
Town Manager John Lemley said he may schedule a special council meeting when the insurance estimate comes in.
Residents have questioned if the building will be safe as result of the collapse, and they have criticized the plan to locate the recreation center in the building, which they say is in some ways unsuitable for a recreation center.
Three residents questioned council members at a meeting last week. They say they will be at next week's meeting to do so again.
Council members say they still support their plan to put the recreation center in the Lowe's building.
