A woman using the bathroom at a Ferrum restaurant Saturday discovered she wasn't doing so in private.
There was hole in the floor, and she could see a camera lens moving.
The woman's tip led to the arrest this week of Bobby C. Haulsey, 45, of Ferrum, on a peeping Tom charge, said Detective Tim Woods of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.
An investigation revealed two fingertip-sized holes - with plugs used to fill them when not in use - in the floor of the women's bathroom at the 77 Restaurant on Virginia 623.
Woods said a camera lens was inserted into the holes. .
A bucket and some cigarette ashes were found in the basement below the hole.
The restaurant's owner, Larry Dalton, said Haulsey lives a short distance away and is not an employee or a regular customer.
"It was quite a surprise," Dalton said. "You just never know what's going to happen anymore."
