IN SERVICE

ARMY PRIVATE JOSEPH A. CURET has completed a special course in criminal investigation at Fort McClellan, Anniston, Ala.

Curet is the son of Elizabeth J. Curet of Rochester, N.Y. and Jose A. Curet of Salem.

PFC. JEFFREY A. CARTER has completed army basic training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Carter is the son of William J. and Kathy Carter of Roanoke.

SEAMAN JASON M. PAXTON, son of William T. and Rebecca B. Paxton of Salem, has returned from a four-month deployment aboard the aircraft carrier USS Independence. The carrier was stationed in the Persian Gulf and western Pacific Ocean.

Paxton, a 1993 graduate of Salem High School, joined the Navy in November 1993.

AIRMAN MICHAEL A. RAYL, son of Michael A. and Mary K. Rayl of Roanoke, has completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He is a 1995 graduate of Northside High School.

AIRMAN MICHAEL T. BROUGHMAN, son of John W. and Carolyn F. Broughman of Eagle Rock, completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Broughman is a 1995 graduate of James River High School.

ARMY PVT. DANE E. CRULL, son of George W. Crull of Vinton, completed basic training at Fort Leonard E. Wood in Waynesville, Mo.

ARMY PVT. MICHAEL S. GOOLSBY, son of Louise J. and James M. Cook of Roanoke, completed basic training at Fort Leonard E. Wood in Waynesville, Mo.

HOSPITALMAN RECRUIT WILLIAM H. O'NEAL, son of Myrna A. O'Neal of Roanoke, recently graduated from the Basic Hospital Corps School at Naval Hospital Corps School in Great Lakes, Ill.

He joined the Navy in June 1995.

SEAMAN APPRENTICE ASIA Y. MUHAMMAD, daughter of Francine A. Muhammad of Roanoke, recently graduated from the Basic Hospital Corps School at Naval Hospital Corps School in Great Lakes, Ill.

SENIOR AIRMAN ERIC D. NICHOLS, son of Christine L. Nichols of Vinton and Jeffrey M. Nichols of Lincolnton, N.C. has been decorated with the Air Force Achievement Medal for meritorious service, acts of courage, or other outstanding accomplishments.

PVT. BRIAN D. HOGAN, son of Joe W. Hogan of Roanoke, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.
