EAGLES BLAST PATRIOTS

Jenny Chitwood scored 15 points to lead four scorers in double figures as Franklin County knocked off Patrick Henry 61-45 in a girls' Roanoke Valley District basketball game in Rocky Mount.

Franklin County led 33-21 at halftime and pulled away in the fourth quarter.

Heather Matthews added 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Eagles and Kelli Preston chipped 11 points and 14 rebounds. Penee Clayborne also had 10 for Franklin County.

Patrick Henry was led by Carrie Moore, who pumped in a game-high 25 points. Renea Hill added 14.
