Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Roanoke, has kept his latest campaign promise.
A few weeks ago, the 6th District congressman said he would bring in "prominent members of the House" soon to campaign for his re-election.
This week, Goodlatte's campaign announced that House Speaker Newt Gingrich would come to Roanoke on March 2 to speak at a breakfast fund-raiser at the Hotel Roanoke.
Can't get much more prominent than that.
Getting Gingrich was easy, Goodlatte aide Tim Phillips said. Gingrich already was coming to Western Virginia to speak at Washington and Lee University's Mock Convention that morning.
Democrats are searching for a candidate to oppose Goodlatte this fall but so far have come up empty-handed.
