Jaycees seeks award nominations

The Roanoke Jaycees are seeking nominations for the following Distinguished Service Award categories: distinguished citizen, outstanding young woman, outstanding young man, outstanding young educator, outstanding young rescue squad member and outstanding young law enforcement officer.

Anyone age 18 through 39 is eligible. The awards will be based on contributions to community welfare, leadership potential and interpersonal skills.

One-page nominations may be mailed to: Roanoke Jaycees, DSA Banquet, P.O. Box 1225, Roanoke, VA 24006. The deadline is March 5. For more information, call 345-1316.

Hospice offers help for grieving children

The Good Samaritan Hospice is sponsoring a special program designed to help children ages 5 to 12 cope with grief.

Good Sam's Hope will consist of six weekly meetings starting Monday from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the hospice, 3825 Electric Road S.W., Suite A.

There will be a parallel program at the same time for parents/guardians.
