In Roanoke County, two men accused of breaking into cars and stealing one of them led police Wednesday on a foot chase that ended on the banks of Tinker Creek.
Investigators believe the men broke into more than 25 cars in the Plantation Gardens and Summerdean neighborhoods in North Roanoke County.
A Chevrolet Camaro was reported stolen about 7 a.m. from Chester Drive. It was found a short time later, after it had crashed through a stone wall in the 600 block of Clearwater Avenue, Lt. Gary Roche said.
A detective investigating the incident attempted to stop two men walking on Plantation Circle. But the men ran toward Tinker Creek.
Police caught Lucas Schnurman and David Bomber near the creek about 9:30 a.m.
Schnurman, 18, of the 1600 block of Seventh Street Southeast, was charged with grand larceny. Bomber, 22, of King Arthur Court Northwest, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Roche said additional charges are pending on each man.
The gun found on Bomber had been stolen from one of the cars.
