Chris Childress scored 25 of his 32 points in the first half and Kevin Stump picked up the slack in the second half with all of his 15 points as William Byrd defeated Rockbridge County 82-71 on Thursday night in a Blue Ridge District boys' game in Lexington.
Byrd took control by outscoring Rockbridge County 30-17 in the second period. Ricky Wright and Jaymie Terrell scored 21 points each for the Wildcats.
Lynchburg Christian 46, North Cross 45: In Lynchburg, the Raiders faltered at the free-throw line (6-for-13) in the fourth quarter, and Jason Page scored all of his 12 points in the period as the Bulldogs rallied for a Virginia Independent Conference victory.
Carlisle 75, Roanoke Catholic 67: Bryant Redd and Joseph McClinton combined to scored 17 of Carlisle's 19 fourth-quarter points as the Chiefs (16-1, 13-0) held off the Celtics in a Virginia Independent Conference game in Martinsville.
Highland 80, Craig County 59: Bryan Werner scored a career-high 27 points, including 13 in a big second quarter as the Rams (10-14, 5-6) routed the Rockets in a Pioneer District game in Monterey.

Roanoke Valley Christian 35, Roanoke Catholic 19: Rebecca Bryant scored 15 of her game-high 23 points in the second half as the Eagles (16-2, 11-1) grounded the Celtics (9-9, 8-6) in a Blue Ridge Conference matchup at Catholic.
Holy Cross 55, North Cross 36: The visiting Gaels (14-6, 10-3) won the middle two quarters to beat the Raiders (5-11, 5-7) in a Blue Ridge Conference game.
