AGEE, Demus C., 78, of 539 Washburn Ave., Eden, N.C., died Wedn esday, February 14, 1996 in Stokes Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Danbury, N.C. He was born in Spray, N.C., and was a member of First Church of the Brethren, Eden, N.C., a member of Loyal Sons and Daughters, and a choir member. He was a retired fireman with the City of Eden, and was also a volunteer fireman. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Priddy Agee of the home; daughter, Gloria A. Martin, Greensboro, N.C.; grandson, Earnest ``Andy'' Knight III, Tampa, Fla.; granddaughter, Debra Jean Tice, Covington, Ga.; two sisters, Ruby Belcher, Eden, N.C., Frances Fisher, Rocky Mount; brother, Willard Agee, Durham, N.C.; three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Church of the Brethren, Eden, N.C. Burial will be in Overlook Cemetery, Eden, N.C. Visitation will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Fair Funeral Home, Eden, N.C., and other times at 539 Washburn Ave., Eden, N.C. AKERS, Randall C., (``Henry''), 44, of Max Meadows, died Wednesday, February 14, 1996, at his residence. He was employed by the American Screw Company, and was a member of the Max Meadows United Methodist Church, and the Max Meadows Athletic Commission. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph A. Akers. He is survived by his wife, Frances ``Frankie'' Cook Akers; one daughter, Aaron Elizabeth Akers; one son, Jason Scott Akers, all of the home; his mother and stepfather, Betty and Frank Ashford, of Route 3, Wytheville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and James Akers of Max Meadows, Mickey and Tom Dunford of Route 3, Wytheville, Donnie Cook of Max Meadows; one brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Kaye Akers of Max Meadows; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Cook of Max Meadows. Five nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 17, 1996, at 2 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Joe Carrico, the Rev. Randy Morris, the Rev. Allen C. Ashford, and the Rev. Dr. James McReynolds officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Barnett Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, or at the residence at any time. BAKER, Josephine Blair, 91, of Roanoke, formerly of Galax, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 1996. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Patricia D. Baker, Roanoke; daughter-in-law, Betty Baker, Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Molly Johnson, High Point, N.C.; one brother, William Blair, Columbus, Ohio; devoted granddaughter, Marie Baker, Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Graveside funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 1996 at Old Town Cemetery, Galax, with the Rev. Raymond Brown officiating. BATEMAN, Ernestine Arnetta, 93, of Roanoke, died Thursday afternoon, February 15, 1996 in Friendship Manor Health Care Center. She was a member of Central Church of the Brethren, was retired from Heironimus, and was predeceased by three brothers, Glen, Harry and Lynwood Bateman. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Cletis B. Richards, Roanoke, Mrs. Pauline B. and husband, Vernon Diehl, McGaheysville, Va.; a brother, Willis S. and wife, Eunice Bateman, Roanoke; several nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law, Odessa Bateman, Norfolk. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday from Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, with Pastor David A. Yingling and Pastor Harold S. Moyer officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. BISHOP, Andrew Voorheis, 88, of Vinton, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 1996. Mr. Bishop was a long time resident of Southern California and was retired from the radio and TV repair business. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Gilman Bishop and is survived by h is daughters and sons-in-law, Drew and Dave DeNeal, Hardy, Rachel and Wilfred Simendinger, Jacksonville, Ore., Phyll Raymond, LaMirada, Calif.; his grandchildren, Debbie Shouse, Daniel DeNeal, Terry Bramnick, Tim and Mark Simendinger, Bill and Joe Raymond; two great-grandchildren, Addison and Patrick Shouse. A memorial service will be held at Red Hill Church of the Brethren Saturday, February 17, 1996, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ernie Deyerle officiating. BURGESS, Elaine Waybright, 87, of Narrows, died Thursday, February 15, 1996, at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg. She was born in Ripley, W.Va., on August 2, 1908, and was the daughter of the late James Otmer and Lucile Parsons Waybright. She was a graduate of Marshall University, and a Narrows High School teacher for several years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Narrows. Mrs. Burgess was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius J. Burgess. She is survived by a son, Thomas D. Burgess III of Narrows; a brother, James O. Waybright of Williamstown, W.Va.; four grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Graveside rites will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, with the Rev. Larry Williams officiating. The family will receive friends at Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Memorial Fund of First United Methodist Church in Narrows.

GOINS, Glenn Eugene, 67, of Rt. 1, Arthur Needham Rd., Pilot Mountain, N.C., died Wednesday, February 14, 1996 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Goins was born in Stokes County April 29, 1928 to Andrew and Annie Virginia Frye Goins. He was retired from Renfor Hoisery in Mt. Airy, N.C., served his country in the U. S. Army and was a member of Dan River Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mabel Yates Goins; one daughter, Carolyn Tilley, Pilot Mountain, N.C.; one son and daughter-in-law, Randy Goins and wife, Nora, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; one grandchild, Ashley Goins; his mother, Annie Virginia Frye Goins, Pilot Mountain, N.C.; three sisters, Juanita Clifton, Salem, Edith Rodgers, Westfield, N.C., Shelby Millsap, Pilot Mountain, N.C.; two brothers, Gaylon Goins, Pilot Mountain, N.C., Junior Goins, Pinnacle, N.C. HANCOCK, Alice Clark, of Roanoke, died Monday, February 12, 1996. She is the widow of Walter Roland Hancock Jr. She was a resident of the Roanoke United Methodist Home. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
HAZELWOOD, Jeffrey Lee, 28, of Blacksburg, died Thursday morning, February 15, 1996. He was born in Pearisburg on May 13, 1967, and was the son of Johnny and Patty Hazelwood of Narrows. He was a graduate of Narrows High School. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his companion, Susie Farrow of Blacksburg; a daughter, Katima Farrow of Blacksburg; a brother, Jess R. Hazelwood, Gloucester; his maternal grandmother, Lillian Smith of Narrows. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Church of God of Prophecy in Narrows, with the Rev. Jim Haga and the Rev. Jack E. Musick officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Narrows. The body will be removed from Riffe's Funeral Service in Narows to the church Friday afternoon, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m
HENRY, Genevieve Alfred, 74, of Plainfield, New Jersey, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 1996 at the JFK Hospital in Edison, New Jersey, after a long illness. She was the daughter of Sallie Jones Alfred Chambers of Bedford and John Alfred of West Virginia. She is survived by her daughter and two grandchildren. Funeral services and internment will be held at the Western Light Baptist Church on Saturday, February 17, 1996, at 1 p.m. In lieu of a wake, a 1 hour viewing period has been designated by the family from 12 noon until time of service, at t he church. Richardson and two sisters, Thelma A. and Gertrude Richardson. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Frances Rothwell Richardson; sons and daughters-in-law, James R. Jr. and Margo D. Richardson, Rocky Mount, Robert J. and Mary Lou P. Richardson, Independence; granddaughters, Teresa M. Taylor and husband, Nathanial, Katherine A. and Margo M. Richardson; grandsons, James R. Richardson III and wife, Michelle, Kevin K., Robert J. Jr. and John W. Richardson; great-grandson, Eric Taylor; sisters-in-law, (Lovie) R. Taylor and husband, Herbert W., Louise R. Myers. Mr. Richardson was employed by his beloved Virginian Railroad and retired from the Norfolk & Western Railway where he was in Freight Station of Roanoke Terminal with total service of 49 1/2 years with both railways. He was a member of Belmont Baptist Church where he was a member of the Berean Bible Class serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and member of the Finance Committee. He was a 50 year member of U.C.T. and was a lifetime coin collector and appraiser. Services will be at Oakey's South Chapel 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 1996. The Rev. Wayne C. Harrison will officiate. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park., The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. SMITH, Delmas Ralph, 66, of Philadelphia, Penn., formerly of Roanoke and Bedford, died Wedne sday, February 14, 1996 in Jeanes Hospital in the Philadelphia area. His wife of 47 years, the former Mercedes McKinley Harrison, was also from Roanoke. While in Philadelphia, they owned and operated several Dry Cleaning establishments. In Roanoke, Delmas worked at Kane's Furniture Store. He is survived by his wife and children, Connie Fragie of California, Bonnie Moses of Philadelphia, Joseph Hughes of Nashville, Angelee Benner-Smith and David Smith, both of Philadelphia. He has five grandsons and two granddaughters. His five surviving brothers, Eugene, Joseph, Alfred, Derwood and Larry are from Virginia. On sunday, February 18, 1996 at 2 p.m., a memorial services celebrating Delmas' life will be shared at Old Pine Street Presbyterian Church, 412 Pine Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19106. In lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes is welcome to donate monies in memory of Delmas Ralph Smith to Old Pine Church's Memorial Fund to be disbursed later.

Ulrey, Roanoke; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Willard Campbell, Roanoke; foster son and daughter-in-law, Audie and Cheryl Jean Ferris, Roanoke; foster daughters, Margaret Oakes, Roanoke, Betty Cook, Blacksburg; 24 other foster children; one brother, Samuel Hofawger, King, N.C.; a sister, Lottie Bynum, Roanoke; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
