WYTHE WINS DISTRICT PLAYOFF GAME

Eric Branson hit two free throws with 13 seconds left - his only points of the game - to give George Wythe a 56-55 victory over Lebanon in a Hogoheegee District playoff game Saturday night in Glade Spring.

With the victory, the Maroons (17-4) clinch the top seed in the district tournament and earn a berth in the Region C tournament.

Branson grabbed an offensive rebound off a missed free throw by Justin Bourne and was fouled while attempting to shoot. He made both free throws, and Lebanon could not convert a buzzer-beating shot.

Brian Barnes led the Maroons with a game-high 16 points and Ted Ring added 13.

Lebanon (14-7) got 14 points from McKenzie McNulty and 13 from Ben Carpenter.
