The Montgomery County Council of PTA recently announced its Reflections Winners. The organization sponsored a social at Blacksburg Middle School Feb. 18 to recognized the winners.
Each year, the National PTA sponsors a Reflections program. This year's theme, "Just Open your Eyes and See..." was selected after children across the country suggested ideas. Entries had to be directly related to and express the theme, or the theme had to be used in a title or subtitle. There were four entry categories: visual arts, literature, music and photography for different grade levels: primary, preschool-grade 2; intermediate, grades 3-5; middle/junior, grades 6-8; and senior, grades 9-12.
Many Montgomery County students participated in the program at their school in the fall. Each school then submitted its first-place winners in each of the categories to the County Reflections Program contest. First-place winners from the county will compete in the district competition. Successive first place winners then move on to the state and then the national level.
