Virginia football coach George Welsh will be the guest speaker at the monthly meeting of the Roanoke Valley Sports Club. Welsh will speak Monday at the Salem Civic Center, after a 5:45 p.m. social and 6:15 buffet dinner.
Reservations are $10 per member, $15 for out-of-town guests and those under age 21, and $20 for local guests, which provides a membership for the rest of the 1995-96 club year.

New River Valley Speedway will have four Legend Car races this year: on May 11, June 15, July 6 and Aug.10. The first regular racing night of the season will be April 6. Season-ticket packages are available at the speedway ticket office. Call (540) 639-1700 for information.
William Byrd defeated Salem 15-3, 11-15, 15-2 to win the Blue Ridge District volleyball championship in a playoff at Lord Botetourt High School. Byrd gets an automatic berth in the Region III championships.
