WOMAN LIKELY DIED OF EXPOSURE

A 38-year-old woman found in Northwest Roanoke Saturday afternoon died of exposure. Police say they do not suspect foul play in her death.

Officers found Patricia Ann Lockhart in the 1100 block of Pilot Street, a block from her home. Results from her toxicology tests were not complete Monday, police said.

In other incidents last weekend:

* A 31-year-old Northwest Roanoke man was shot in the arm and stomach, as he and a relative struggled over a gun late Saturday.

Charles Smith Jr. of the 1300 block of Crescent Street was shot about 11 p.m., police said. The bullet went through Smith's arm and into his stomach. The suspect left the scene before officers arrived.

Smith was admitted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. A nursing supervisor at the hospital said she could not release Smith's condition.

* A man known only by the name "Jamaican Tony" was found bleeding from a gunshot wound on the porch of a Northwest Roanoke home Saturday morning.

About 9 a.m., officers found the man at a home in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue. The man was unconscious and bleeding from his thigh. Police said the residents said they heard a knock at their front door. When they opened the door, the man staggered inside.

"The residents dragged the victim outside to keep him from bleeding onto their floor," according to a police news release. The man was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Because his full name is not known, his condition could not be checked at the hospital.
