AGEE, Glenwood Jr., 74, of New River, died Monday, February 19, 1996, in a Radford hospital. He was a longtime member of the Fairlawn Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Caldwell Agee. Surviving are one daughter, Carol J. Agee, Radford; three sisters, Betty Warf, Ruth Agee, both of Radford, Jean Long, Charlotte, N.C. ALLEN, Mary Darlene Flowers, 46, of Copper Hill, died Sunday, February 18, 1996 in a Roanoke hospital. BEARD, James Garland, of Charlottesville, died Saturday, February 17, 1996. He was born Vinton on April 22, 1915, the son of the late Anne Preas Beard and John Wesley Beard. He graduated from Vinton High School and in 1938 from Virginia Military Institute with a degree in civil engineering. He was a World War II veteran, earning the rank of major with the 727th Railway Battalion in Africa and Europe. He was awarded the Croix de Guerre by the French government. After military service, Mr. Beard re-joined Southern Railway. He was superintendent of railways in Birmingham, Richmond, and Charlottesville before leaving Southern in 1964 to join U.S. Steel Corporation as general manager of railroads for its mining operator in Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela. He retired in 1981 and lived in Richmond and Charlottesville. He is survived by his wife, Mary Edith Gill Beard; and his children, Mary Beard Montgomery, Williamson, Ga., Patricia Beard Sprouse, Reston, and James Gill Beard, Suffolk. He is also survived by a sister and brother, Atlas Beard Farris and Louis Beard, both of Vinton; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Hill and Wood Chapel. BOWYER, Marion Lee, 78, of Tuscon, Ariz. and formerly of Bedford, passed away Sunday, February 18, 1996 at his home in Tuscon, Ariz. after a lengthy illness. He was born in Bedford Co. April 23, 1917 a son of the late James G. and Ardella Howell Bowyer. He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. Mr. Bowyer was a veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Maxine Long Bowyer; four children, Linda, Kenneth, Joyce, and Steven; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jewell Jennings and Fleeta Cheek both of Roanoke. CAMDEN, Shirley Ferguson, 72, of Buena Vista, died Monday, February 19, 1996 in the Friendship Manor Nursing Home, Roanoke. Mrs. Camden was born October 19, 1923 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Samuel Zachariah Ferguson and Ruth Austin Ferguson. She was a member of the Falling Spring Presbyterian Church and the widow of Hubert L. Camden. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Samuel L. and Brenda Camden, Roanoke, H. Thomas and Lois Camden, Buena Vista; one daughter and son-in-law, Sheila C. and Sherman Moore, Meadowview; three sisters, Gloria F. (Dot) Trent, Glasgow, Dora Jane Gilbert, Buena Vista, Caroline F. Camper, Roanoke; six brothers, Releford Ferguson, Glasgow, Samuel Ferguson, Natural Bridge, Erskine Ferguson, Buena Vista, Melvin Ferguson, Lexington, Franklin Ferguson, Buena Vista, Boyce Ferguson, Buena Vista; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild. GRAYBEAL, Paul, 81, of Salem, died Sunday, February 18, 1996. He w as born in Ashe County, N.C. He was a member and former deacon at Shenandoah Baptist Church. He had retired from General Electric as an inspector and is preceded in death by a son, Donald Graybeal. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Maude B. Graybeal, with whom he celebrated 59 years of marriage on February 13, 1996. Also surviving are his children, Gordon Graybeal and wife, Shelia of Troutville, Barbara Gentry and husband, Paige of Salem; grandchildren, Wanda Melchers and Linda Hurt, Nora Quinn, Michael Gentry, Alan Gentry, Philip and Brian Graybeal; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Urban of Lancaster, Pa. MUNDY, Benjamin F., 74, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Buchanan, died February 6, 1996. He was born May 11, 1921 in Buchanan and moved to Lakeland in 1951. He worked as an inventory auditor for the Polk County School Board. He was an army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post 4 . He was a member of the United Methodist Temple in Lakeland. He is survived by his wife, Frances Camper Mundy, Lakeland; son, Benjamin F. Mundy, Jr., Lakeland; daughters, Andrea M. Coward and Stephanie M. Miklavcic, both of Lakeland; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was the last surviving child of the late Luther T. NEWBY, Virginia Goins, 82, of Radford, died Sunday, February 18, 1996, in a Radford hospital. She was the widow of Robert Lee Newby. OSBORNE, Harry Remson Jr., 61, of Catawba died Sunday, February 18,1996. He leaves behind his wife, Gladys; and five children, Debbra, Patricia, Jean, Harry and George; eight grandchildren; his father, Harry Remson Osborne Sr.; three sisters. He lived in Lincoln Park, before moving to Catawba Va. ten years ago. He served in the Marine Corp. and was a member of the American Legion Post #297, he belo nged to the Masonic Temple in Butler and served 25 years on the Lincoln Park Volunteer Fire Department, Hose Company #1. He also belonged and was Chief of The Upper Craigs Creek Volunteer Fire Department. There will be a memorial service Thursday, 2 p. m. at Boitnott Funeral Home. WANZER, Ann Brooks, 69, of Lexington, died Sunday, February 18, 1996, in the Stonewall Jackson Extended Care F acility. A daughter of the late Oliver G. and Hallie Jones Brooks, she was born October 12, 1926, in Lexington, where she attended the public school. She was an active member of the Randolph Street United Methodist Church, serving in the Senior Choir and the Barbara Patterson Circle. Surviving are two brothers and sisters-in-law, Oliver L. Sr. and Elvia Brooks, and John W. and Daphine Brooks; three nieces, Rachelle, Janice and Simone, all of District Heights, Md.; one nephew, Oliver L. Brooks Jr., Lexington.
