VINTON MAN'S REMAINS FOUND ALONG PARKWAY

The skeletal remains of a young Vinton man, who disappeared from his home a year and a half ago, were found Wednesday afternoon near the base of a bridge on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Parkway workers found the body of John Horsley, who was 23 when he disappeared, in a heavily wooded area and notified Roanoke County police.

Investigators do not suspect foul play in Horsley's death. The area where Horsley's body was found had been searched shortly after he disappeared in August 1994, according to Roanoke County Detective Paul Nielsen. Because the area was so thick with vegetation, detectives did not see a body, he said.
