BOOTHE, Richard Lee, 51, of Salem, died Wednesday, February 21, 1996 at his residence. He was born on January 30, 1945 in Roanoke and was a U. S. Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Jackson Boothe and Marion Francis Kitts. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Heather Norman, of Stuarts Draft, Va.; and one son, Patrick Boothe, of New Hope, Va.; two brothers, Wesley Boothe and Rod Boothe; one sister, Rachel Mayfield; one granddaughter, Franchesca NOrman. Mr. Boothe leaves behind a very special friend, Mrs. Rose Kirkman and her family. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, at 3 p.m. at the John M. DILLON, Thomas Irvin, Sr., 71, of Roanoke, died Friday, February 23, 1996. He was preceded in death by hi s parents, Samuel and Thelma Dillon; also two sons, Clyde Lee and Samuel Henry Dillon. EBBETT, Mavis F., 80, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, February 21, 1996. A native of Hartland, Four Corners, Vt. She was a daughter of the late, J. Howard and Diamond Rose Flower. Mrs. Ebbett was a graduate of Vermont Junior College. She was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Roanoke and a recent recipient of the Thomas Jefferson District Excellence in Congregational Leadership Award of the Unitarian Universalist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry E. Ebbett and two brothers, Thalen Flower and Launise Flower. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Raymond Henry and Patricia P. Ebbett, Roanoke; daughters and son-in-law, Janis E. and Vernon Summers, Alexandria, Sarah Rose Ebbett, Roanoke; grandchildren, Nathan Patrick Summers, Meredith Leigh Ebbett, Natalie Jill Summers, Virginia Rose Ebbett; sisters, Lyrace Fontaine, Burlington, Vt., Zelva Ladeau, Iloene Brennan, both of Bristol, Vt., Gracile Lord, Ripton, Vt., Ildolyn Ahearn, Hopkinton, Mass.; brother, Norlan Flower, Burlington, Vt.; aunt, Clara Pratt, Salisbury, Vt.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. FOLEY, Harry Nelson, 42, of Floyd, passed away, Wednesday, February 21, 1996 at his home in Floyd Co. He was born the son of Verna Mae Camper in Bedford County, March 7, 1952. JARRETT, Frances Mae, 83, of Buena Vista, died Thursday, February 22, 1996, at her home. Born in Buena Vista on June 26, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Elmer L. and Cora B. Huffman Smith. Sh e was a lifelong member of the Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart Saunders Jarrett. She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Keyes; a special son-in-law, Larry Keyes; and a beloved granddaughter, Jodie Keyes, all of Buena Vista; a sister, Jean Landes, Buena Vista; a brother and sister-in-law, Garland L. ``Bud'' and Mary Smith of Buena Vista; numerous nieces and nephews. McGUIRE, Shirley Rose, 71, of Pembroke, died suddenly at her home on Cascade Drive Thursday morning, February 22, 1996. Born in Pembroke, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Della Lee Hilton Radford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Edward McGuire. Surviving are two sons, Walter Cleaven McGuire and Gene L. McGuire of Pembroke; a daughter, Bonnie M. Gautier of Pembroke; three grandchildren, Tony, Velvet, and Raymond; one great-grandchild, Seth; two brothers, Leonard Radford and Melvin L. NEWKIRK, Roy Alfred, 91, of 210 Southland Station Dr., Apt. 35, Warner Robins, Ga., died Friday, February 23, 1996. Mr. Newkirk, a native of Missouri, had lived i Warner Robins for the past six months, having moved from Roanoke, Va. He was retired from the Roanoke City School System, where he was the Director of Vocational Education. He was a member of the National Educators Association, the Sons of the American Revolution and Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church in Roanoke. Survivors include his wife, Edna M. Newkirk of Warner Robins; son, LeRoy R. Newkirk of Warner Robins; granddaughter, M. Marie Conklin of Warner Robins; great-grandson, Marcus Reed Conklin of Warner Robins. SELF, Margaret Cabell, of Bedford, died Friday, Feb ruary 9, 1996 at the Campbell Rest Home in the City of Bedford. She was born on February 12, 1902 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She spent her early years living in Warminster, Nelson County. She was married to Sydney B. Self, who died in 1980. She is survived by her half sister, Mrs. Mary Somerville of Charlottesville; four children, Sydney B. Self Jr. of Bedford, Shirley S. Brotherhood of Block Island, R.I., Hartwell C. Self of New Canaan, Conn., and Virginia S. Bucklin of Narragansett, R.I., eleven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was a noted horsewoman, founder of the New Canaan Mounted Troop and the author of more than forty books, mostly about horses and horsemanship, but including a number of books for children, and one novel, ``Red Clay Country'', set in Virginia. She was an accomplished musician and played violin with the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra in Norwalk, Conn. She also founded the Block Island Times, a community newspaper in Block Island, R.I. Memorial services will be held at Edgewood in Nelson County on May 11, 1996 at 2 p.m.
