POLICE SAY 2 RUNNING MOONSHINE `BIGGEST SEIZURE I'VE SEEN LATELY'

Frederick County police grounded a shipment of what they think is white lightning in a van on Interstate 81 in Winchester early Wednesday, according to Capt. Rick Seabright.

Sheriff's officers discovered 446 gallons of "a clear liquid that we believe to be moonshine," Seabright said.

Police discovered the suspected moonshine while taking an inventory of the van after arresting two Rocky Mount brothers on intoxication charges.

Police stopped Jason B. and Scott A. Stanley, of Scuffling Hill Road, Seabright said.

Jason Stanley, 22, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, and Scott Stanley, 25, was charged with public intoxication and possession of marijuana, Seabright said. Both men face possession of untaxed liquor charge.

When deputies opened the back door of the van, they found "the biggest seizure I've seen around here lately," Seabright said.

The liquor, stored in gallon-size milk containers neatly stacked in three tiers inside the van, is valued at $14,500.

Jason Stanley was released on $2,500 bond. Scott Stanley was released on $2,000 bond, Seabright said.
