Beard anniversary

John W. and Mary O. (Betty) Beard of Roanoke, celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniver sary on February 23, 1996. Their sons and daughter-in-law, Mike and Michaeleen of Eugene, Oregon; and Tim of Roanoke, are giving them a cruise. John served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and is retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Betty is a homemaker. They have one grandson, Joshua of Eugene, Oregon.

Carter anniversary

Frances A. Carter and Kenneth L. Carter, II celebrated their 25th anniversary on August 26, 1995. The celebration was held at Fairview United Methodist Church with renewal of their wedding vows. The couple was married August 28, 1970 in Fairview United Methodist Church. Their children are Lt. Scott S. Carter, Cambridge, Mass. and Kristi M. Carter, Richmond, Va. Kenneth is employed by Central Wholesale Supply.

Carter anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth L. Carter celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on February 24, 1996 with a reception hosted by their children and grandchildren at the Vinton War Memorial. Mr. and Mrs. Carter were married on February 25, 1946 at Villa Heights Baptist Church by the Reverend J. Landon Maddex. Mrs. Carter is the former Lois Nunley.

Their children and spouses include Kenneth Lee Carter, II and Frances Andrews Carter of Vinton, Va., and Vickie Lynn Myers and James R. Myers, Jr. of Jonesville, Va. Grandchildren include Dawn and Melissa Myers of Jonesville, Va., Lt. Scott S. Carter, USAF, of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Kristi Carter, who is attending the University of Richmond.

Wagoner anniversary

Former Martinsville residents, Ernest and Debra Wagoner, were guest of honor at a luncheon hosted by their families on Sunday, February 25, 1996, at Quincy's Family Steakhouse in Martinsville to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. The Wagoners were married at McCabe Memorial Baptist Church on February 27, 1971 by Reverend Phillip Duckett. Debra is a 1971 graduate of Fieldale-Collinsville High School and is the daughter of Marcia Gordon Moffitt of Roanoke and Raymond Gordon (deceased). She is the granddaughter of the late John & Nell Tayloe and the late Luther & Lula Gordon. Ernest is a 1969 graduate of Martinsville High School and is the son of Ernest and Louise Wagoner of Martinsville. The Wagoners now reside in Safety Harbor, Florida where Ernest is owner of Wagoner Computer Telephony Consultants and Debra works for an international computer software consulting company.
