Cory Wolfe scored eight of his 16 points in the fourth quarter and Bath County held Glenvar to only 28 percent field-goal shooting as the Chargers stunned the Highlanders 54-41 on Saturday en route to their first ever Pioneer District tournament basketball championship in Clifton Forge.
The Chargers (19-3) set a school record for wins and snapped Glenvar's 10-game winning streak.
Bath County held Glenvar to only 12 first-half points before Glenvar stormed back to tie the score at 28 after three quarters. The Chargers, however, made 10 of 12 free throws in fourth quarter to put the game away. Wolfe finshed with 15 rebounds.
Jon Rodgers led Bath County with a game-high 17 points.
Glenvar (16-6) was led by Josh Williamson, who scored 14 points, Chris Evans, who added 10.

JV: Bath County def. James River 42-30.
Fort Chiswell 73, Galax 60: The Pioneers built a nine-point halftime lead that they never relinquished in capturing the Three Rivers District title over the Maroon Tide at George Wythe High School.
Fort Chiswell (12-10) was led by Heath Bralley's 20 points. Galax (10-11) was led by Rodney Sawyers 17 points.
Carlisle 78, Fishburne 73: Bryant Redd's 3-pointer with 3 minutes left gave the Chiefs the lead for good and propelled them to the Virginia Independent Conference tournament championship at Lynchburg College.
Carlisle (21-2) hosts Miller School in a state tournament game on Tuesday. Tournament MVP Lamont Franklin scored 26 points.
