ROANOKE REGIONAL ECONOMIC INDICATORS

The weekly wage in the Roanoke metro area averaged $446 early last summer, 12 percent lower than the statewide average of $508, according to a Virginia Employment Commission report.

Stockbrokers, the highest-paid workers, received much more: $945 per week. At the other end of the scale, movie theater employees, most of whom work part time, averaged $133 per week.
