ALCORN, Elsie Virginia Ferris, 89, of Roanoke, died Monday, February 26, 1996. Arrangements by Lotz Roanoke Chapel.
ANDERSON, Donald G., 44, of 1110 Juniper Drive, Christiansburg, formerly of Princeton, W.Va., was dead on arrival Friday, February 23, 1996, at a Blacksburg hospital. Born January 21, 1952 in Princeton, W.Va., he was the son of Charlotte Neely Anderson White of Walnut St., Princeton, and the late Chris Anderson. He graduated from Princeton High School in 1970. Mr. Anderson began his career in the U.S. Marine Corp in 1970. He served this country in the Vietnam conflict, had two separate tours in Okinawa, Japan. While stationed in Quantico, he was the Scout Master for the Boy Scout Troop #176 for six years. He was very active in youth programs, coaching football and baseball for many years. During his 20 years of service he received the Rifle Expert Badge four times, Pistol Badge, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Navy Unit Commendation, the National Defense Service Medal on two occasions, the Vietnam Service Medal, and received the Meritorious Unit Service Commendation. In the fall of 1990 he retired as a Gunnery Sgt. In 1991, he moved to Christiansburg, began working for the Montgomery County Department of Social Services as an Employment Service Representative. He was the assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scout Troop #141 of Christiansburg. He was also attending Radford University in Radford. Survivors in addition to his mother are his wife, Linda Marnell Hatcher Anderson of Christiansburg, formerly of Princeton; two sons, Jason Adair Anderson of Princeton, Eric Greene Anderson of the home; one sister, Ms. Peggy J. Anderson of Cherry Hill, N.J.; one brother, Chris Anderson of Falmouth. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 28, 1996 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton, with the Rev. William Hatcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the Courthouse Road in Princeton. Gifts of love can bel made to the Boy Scout Troop #141, P. O. HARDY, William David, Sr., 73, of Bedford, died Sunday, February 25,1996 at Lynchburg General Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Keeling, Va. on October 30, 1922, a son of the late Vester W. and Mattie White Hardy. Mr. Hardy was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of Bedford Baptist Church and was retired from the Virginia State Police. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Hall Hardy; one son, William David Hardy, Jr. and wife Helen, Bedford; three daughters, Gale H. Spence, Lynchburg, Jo Ann Cadiero and husband Gregg, Bedford, Janet Hardy, Bedford; four sisters, Lettie Turner, Danville, Lorena Adams and Betty McLaughlin, Keeling, Audrey Walker, Ringgold; two brothers, Alton Hardy, Keeling, Earl Walton, Danville; also surviving are five grandchildren. Moorman, and was preceded in death by her parents, Davenport and Callie Hopkins Blancher, and a brother, Charlie Blancher. She retired from Burlington Industries and was a member of the Barnhardt Baptist Church, where she was a past Sunday School teacher. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Carol M. and Curtis D. MOTTLEY, Annie Pearl Reese, 80, of Folkston, Ga., died Sunday, February 25, 1996, a t her residence. The Nelson County, Va., native had been a resident of Folkston for the past eight months, coming from Ladson, S.C., and from Roanoke, Va., where she lived most of her life. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse after many years of service, and was a member of Camp Pickney Baptist Church. She had worked at Roanoke Memorial Hospital as a nurse. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, William (``Bubba"") and Linda Brown of Folkston, and John Thomas and June Brown of Newport News, Va.; a daughter, Joyce Fuller of Folkston; a stepson, Kenneth Mottley of Vinton, Va.; a stepdaughter, Charlene Roberts of Roanoke, Va.; nine grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was also a member of the VFW and of the Odd Fellows Association and a member of the Virginia Presbyterian Church. Ross Jr. She was born in Alamance County, N.C., daughter of the late Lawrence Green Nicholson and the late Sarah Elizabeth Anglin Nicholson. She was retired from the Roanoke City School system, a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Roanoke, a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Daughters of the American Revolution. ST.CLAIR, Howard I., (Dennie), 81, of Vinton, died Sunday, February 25, 1996. He was a long-time member and trustee of Mineral Springs Baptist Church, servi ng as deacon and usher. For over fifty years, he owned and operated Mineral Springs Motors. He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Fannie Howell St.Clair; one brother and sister-in-law, James W. (T.) and Myra St.Clair; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy S. and Boyd Folden; two special nieces, Jacqueline P. Moles and Janette C. Markham, all from Vinton; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
