ROANOKE CITY SCHOOLS have announced the winners of the 1995-96 PTA Reflections contest, which encourages creative expression in literature, music, photography and visual arts. This year's theme is "Just Open Your Eyes and See ..." The first-place winner in each category will advance to district competition. The winners, by grade level are as follows:

THE WILLIAM BYRD HIGH SCHOOL FORENSICS TEAM won first place in the recent Blue Ridge District Forensics Tournament. First-, second- and third-place winners will compete at the regional tournament on March 9. Janet McKay coaches the team.

JUDITH PAINTER, a social studies teacher at William Fleming High School, will be one of 15 Virginia educators at the 1996 Virginia Links Middle East Seminar in Syria. The program gives educators an opportunity to explore the physical and cultural geography of Syria.
