STROM THURMOND HITS MILESTONE TODAY

At age 93 years and 94 days, Sen. Strom Thurmond today will pass Theodore F. Green of Rhode Island as the oldest person ever in the Senate. Green left office in 1961.

``It's just another day as far as I'm concerned,'' Thurmond said by telephone from Washington. ``I'm pleased the good Lord has given me good health and the people have honored me by allowing me to serve them.'' - Associated Press
