Youth art on display

PULASKI - Art by young people is on display this month at the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley.

An exhibit centerpiece is from Belle Heath Elementary School in Radford, where students in grades 4-6 created a banquet table with each place setting representing a different artist or style.

Other highlights include a charcoal rendering of a black labrador by Robbie Wallace of Pulaski County High School, a quilted "Today Is Monday" piece in cloth by a fourth-grade class at Dublin Elementary School, and portraits by Christy Redden of Dalton Intermediate, Kareneese Payne of Northwood Elementary, Brenna Blevins of Claremont Elementary, and Shane Price of Riverlawn Elementary.

A reception for all the young artists will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. March 30 at the center at 21 W. Main St., Pulaski. It is open to the public.

The exhibit is part of the center's celebration of National Youth Art Month.
