A consultant hired by the town of Pulaski has completed a study on upgrading the water system.
It recommends replacing three pump stations with two, adding new 8-inch and 10-inch water lines in part of town and building a larger water storage tank on Hermosa Drive.
Town Engineer John Hawley outlined parts of the study made by Draper-Aden Associates at a utilities committee Wednesday morning. Council members will get the final report within two weeks.
Some of the projects recommended in the study will be incorporated into the town's capital improvements plan for the coming year. Others could be several years in the future, and will require new financing.
The study calls for consolidating and improving water facilities serving Draper Mountain Estates, Crestline Drive and the National Guard armory located in town.
The plan would eliminate three storage tanks and three pump stations that, while serviceable, have been causing maintenance problems.
Hawley said the changes would make water operations more efficient. They would also solve some low-pressure problems for some residents.
The existing Madison Avenue pump station would be replaced by a new one at Pierce Avenue, with a second booster pump on Park Lane.
The existing 10,000-gallon Hermosa storage tank would be replaced by a 100,000-gallon tank on the same street. The small Lee Highway South storage tank near the armory would be eliminated.
