Michigan won an unprecedented eighth NCAA hockey title, but its first in 32 years, when Brendan Morrison flipped in a rebound 3:35 into overtime to give the Wolverines a 3-2 victory Saturday over Colorado College.
The Wolverines (33-7-2) had to overcome an overtime drought and a Colorado College team that reached the final by going double overtime in its semifinal.
Michigan had been 0-4-2 in its past six overtimes. Morrison ended that drought with his first goal of the game.
Colorado College (33-5-4) was seeking its first title since 1957, when the Tigers defeated Michigan in the championship game.
