Two brothers from Ferrum were arrested Wednesday after state agents found them at the site of a moonshine still.
Perry Timothy Whitlock, 34, and Berkley Lewis Whitlock, 24, were charged with manufacturing an alcoholic beverage without a license, a felony.
Jimmy Beheler, an assistant special agent with the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Commission in Rocky Mount, said the Whitlocks were arrested about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in a wooded area where a still was found, about four miles from Ferrum College.
Four 800-gallon pots were confiscated, along with 40 gallons of moonshine and 3,200 gallons of mash.
Beheler said the operation had recently been under investigation, but he declined to elaborate.
The Whitlocks were released on bond and are to be arraigned April 10 in Franklin County General District Court. They face a maximum of five years in jail and a $2,500 fine.
Beheler said the finished product the agents confiscated was worth about $320.
