College open house
Virginia Western Community College will hold a campus-wide open house April 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Representative from each department will be available to answer questions and provide information about academic programs, the admissions procedure, financial aid, training programs and other aspects of the college's opportunities.
A $300 scholarship will be awarded through a drawing, as well as other prizes. Entry forms are available at the bookstore.
Tours will leave every 15 minutes from the Information Tent next to Colonial Avenue.
Thirty-minute sessions on admissions will be conducted at 11 a.m. and noon. Financila aid information will be discussed at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. All sessions will be held in the Business Science Building.

Homebrew contest
The James River Homebrewers Club is accepting entries for The Dominion Cup Homebrew Competition now through June 4. Judging will take place June 8, in conjunction with Richmond's River City Real Beer Fest.
All homebrewers are invited to enter. Several prizes will be awarded in various categories.
