Nine Blacksburg High School students qualified in February as finalists in the National Merit Scholarship award competition. A March 25 article incorrectly reported that the students had made it only to the semifinalist round.
The annual meeting of shareholders of MainStreet BankGroup of Martinsville will be held at 10 a.m. April 23 at the Rives Theater in Martinsville. An erroneous date was given in the graphic material accompanying an article on the Business page Sunday. Also, the graphic gave an incorrect ticker symbol for the stock. The correct symbol is MSBC.
A graphic in Sunday's newspaper gave an incorrect figure for the total number of calls the Blue Ridge Rescue Squad ran in 1994. The squad ran 520 calls that year and 367 in 1995.
Clarification
The proposed New River Valley jail has been approved for 50 percent state funding but will be among the final such projects built before a state moratorium goes into effect. A headline in Saturday's paper could have implied the jail project had been postponed.
