Town police charged a Blacksburg man with malicious wounding Sunday in connection with a stabbing at the Foxridge Apartments.
Jimmy Gaither, 28, was listed in stable condition at Columbia Montgomery Regional Hospital after being stabbed in the neck, according to a news release.
Police arrested Lorenza L. Williams, 35, of the University Village trailer park, at 11:50 p.m. Williams and Gaither are acquaintances, according to police
The stabbing followed a 4:30 p.m. argument in Gaither's apartment in the 5000 building of Foxridge Apartments, police said. Gaither ran to another apartment for help and was taken from there to the hospital.
Lt. Bruce Bradbery said a filet knife with a 6-inch blade was used in the stabbing.
After his arraignment Monday in General District Court, Williams remained in the Montgomery County Jail under a $10,000 bond.
Gaither was involved in another argument in October 1993 that ended in the death of a 55-year-old man. A judge dismissed a murder charge against Gaither based on autopsy results that showed the man died of a heart attack, not as a result of alleged physical abuse by Gaither.
