Police have arrested a Salem man and woman in connection with the robbery of a woman making a night deposit at a Salem bank earlier this month.
Christopher Allen Radford, 19, of the 500 block of Colorado Street was arrested Thursday and charged with robbery by force, Sgt. D.R. Divers said.
Angie Conner, 19, of the 100 block of Kimball Avenue was arrested the day before and charged with being an accessory after the fact.
Police would not say how they connected the two suspects to the April 9 incident, in which a Salem woman was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash as she was about to make a night deposit. The woman is an employee of the Spartan Food Store in Salem.
The woman, whose name was not released, was standing outside the Crestar Bank on West Main Street about 10:20 p.m. when a man approached her, police said. She turned to look at him, and he hit her in the head with a beer bottle, grabbed her by the hair and pushed her to the ground.
The assailant fled with the money the woman was about to deposit. She suffered minor injuries.
Radford, who is being held at the Salem-Roanoke County Jail on $15,000 bond, also faces a grand larceny charge in connection with an unrelated incident, Divers said.
Conner was released on bond.
