FOR THE RECORD

Clarification

An April 23 New River Current story mentioned a sign at Harvest Baptist Church describing Blacksburg's predominant religion as being "a strange mix of liberal, social gospel christianity with a one-world mystical New Age system. Most of the inhabitants of this region have never heard a clear presentation of the Gospel." That statement is posted on the church's missionary bulletin board but is not the church's mission statement.

Instead, the church's mission is "to glorify God through maintaining a dependent and dedicated relationship to Jesus Christ as [the church membership] practices Christ-centered worship, trains Christians to do the work of the ministry, serves, encourages and builds up one another and reaches out with the Good News about Jesus Christ to our community and the world."
